accident.....how much will it cost?
i skidded into the side of an offramp last night coming off the highway. no major visable damage was done, the only thing that looked cracked up was the rim on the left driver-side tire, and the tire was pretty messed up as well. the spare was put on and i took it to a honda dealer to fix up. im assuming things like a wheel alignment, new tire and wheel, and brake alignment (because the pad was rubbing after the accident) will all be needed, but what else is going to need to be done and how much will it cost to get fixed up? first ever accident but good thing it was a honda because if it were anything else im sure the accident would have been worse

Stupid shouldn't be cheap, so I understand why they do

Well first off theres no such things as a brake alignment, they lign up or they dont, so somethere is bent but depending on what kind of wheel you have that can cost anywhere from $20 for a ussed steelie from the bone yard up to $300 for a rim from the dealership, the alignment will cost you about $70+ as for the brakes it all depends on what is bent, Id say your looking at about $1,000 in damage depending on whats bent, thats propably what we would charge you at my shop but I need pics to tell you for sure better yet the car.

Not true. When I got in an accident Janurary of '04, my passenger side rear control arm was damaged and needed to be replaced, and also some other small things, but the major part was the control arm. I took it to Honda, and they quoted me 1305.24. I then got quotes from local repair shops, I wound up spending 746.12. The same amount of work, OEM parts used and I saved quite a bit of money.
Dealerships are great, don't get me wrong. But IMO, I think you can get the same level of quality at a cheaper price if you shop around.
