Default VTEC problem, VAFC says OFF

I changed the vtec engagement on sunday from 5700 to 5500, no problems, on monday morning when I started the car I got the "check engine light", I had an appointment for Tuesday at the dealer for water in the rear tailight so I told them about the engine light. When I come to pick up the car the sevice rep tells me that the ECU says that the VTEC solenoid is faulty and they will replace it, so I tell him I drove it all day yesterday and the VTEC kicks in just fine. They are ordering a new one and will replace it. I take the car home and now the VAFC says OFF for VTi and VTo. Anyone had similar problems? The only change I have made is the VTEC engagement point in the VAFC.

VTi in the signal from the ecu to the vafc.....VTo is the signal going to the vtec soleniod..usually the check light comes on when the wires are loose...bad connection

I had the same problem with VTEC selonoid (sp) needing to be replaced but my VAFC always showed VTEC as on...I would re-initialize the V-AFC

Always solves my problems

yeah it is getting replaced under warranty, which is always good to get new parts, but I don't want it to happen again. They don't know what the problem is, I always like to know what is wrong so it can be avoided next time. I will try to reinitialize the VAFC and see what happens

My guess would be a bad connection on the VTM wire.

Wow, they are warranting stuff when you have a V-AFC installed? My dealer wouldn't even fix that taillight if I had a V-AFC!

No they don't give me problems for mods, they have actually installed mods on integras new and sold them like that. They used to have a GSR with a jackson Supercharger but they wanted like 32,000 for it. I was told by them that since it was installed by them it did not void warranty, but I'm sure they don't tell that to Honda on warranty work. I'm sure they will give me problems for it if the problem persists and they can't figure out what is wrong..
