First, i wish you ALOT of luck
12's on a sohc is very very hard to do
golden eagle sleves are the best.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing.
I wouldnt worry so much about the different valve jobs. I would worry more about how much each bolt and nut weighs in your car.
Oh yeah, GE's are great sleeves for the money.

12.8 - 12.9 on a Turbo Charged SOHC EX has been done with a fully built block at 14 psi.

I'm tickling high 13's on only 10psi on a tiny GReddy turbo in my 100% full interior 6G coupe. Built, tuned, on a larger turbo (looking at either t3/t4 or t3/t04e) 12's shouldn't be incredibly difficult. Most people just give up on their SOHC's before they get there, i'll take it all the way

Yes, do not try half *** to do a big task. Take it all the way!!!!!
I do not want or need 12's, I will be happy with 13's on mine. It is a daily driver anyway. I just want to smack down some ego-ridden F-bodies around here. hehe!

With a t3/t4 at 18 psi on a built block, low 12's should be easy as pie.

My bro's '94 CX with a stock D16Z6 did 13.5 on stock tires at only 8 psi with the greddy kit. With 10 psi and slicks high 12's should be no problem.

Is this motor going in a coupe or hatch?

Don't listen to alot of the people here, they don't know what they're talking about. 12's should be EASY w/ a built d16y8, and a t3/t4. Just make sure it's tuned decently and you have slicks. Just because the dohc motors make more power, no one gives any credit to the sohc motors.

I ran a 13.07 with a SOHC up in the high elevation of S.L.C. Utah. I was running a built up bottom end with crower rods and srp pistons, stock head and stock cam at 12psi.
I would not worry about getting headwork or anything head related. You should spend that money on a standalone and injectors.

Yup have faith guy's. Some people don't have the DOHC option to turn too.
Whats impressive is a 12 second SOHC

I have a mild ported and polished D16Y8 head on my D16Z16. picked up a turbo recently along with some other hp maken goodies.

Next winter its the fuel and ignition upgrade, then the winter after that its complete motor rebuild. Hopefully parts will be cheaper.

then look out 12's, who know's, I could be knocking on 11's. Rregardless of that it will be a mean sleeper in a city impregnated by cubic inch dinasours don't ya think.

What's even more impressive is an low 10 second SOHC civic such as Jason Whitfield's D running 10.2@142 or James West's D running 10.4@140
