sounds like a vaccum leak. check all your hoses. also, try cleaning out your EAVC (unbolt it, clean off all the carbon build-up, and clean off the screen). i just did this and it improved my idle ALOT! it never stutters, moves, etc.

Check your throttle body gasket for leaks too.

I have a quirky problem in my rex too. I've got a '99 d16y8 w/ pg7 ecu that had just been installed a week ago. At temperature, it stays right between 700-800 rpm, then dips every now and then... sometimes almost stalling. It did actually stall a couple of times. Otherwise, the motor is excellent.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM..........

OK IS YOUR TIMING ADVANCED? WELL PUT IT BACK TOP STOCK!

THEN YOU CAN MESS WITH THE VACUUM SCREW ON THE MANIFOLD THAT WILL MAKE IT STOP.........JUST RIASE OR LOWER IT WHATEVER IS NEEDED, JUST LISTEN TO YOU ENGINE, AND TRY DIFF SETTINGS....

THAT SHOULD STOP IT..........

I let it do it.. i've had a 87 jetta gl, 89 hb si, and 88rex si. All idled about 600-800 with an occasional dip.. When it goes low (way low) just blip the throttle and it will go back to normal. If it refused to or if it actually dies when it dips THEN you have a problem. btw: if you have your a/c on, when the a/c clutch catches then it can cause the idle to dip momentarily.
