What does the nut do on my deltagate if i loosen/tighten it?

What does the nut do on my deltagate if i loosen/tighten it?
Its the allen wrench type nut on the wastegate. I thought it might have something to do with the spring which is 7lbs. Although it was all the way in and I took it half way out and it did nothing noticeable.

The Deltagate wastegate is adjustable. You increase boost by tightening the bolt and decrease boost by loosening it.
