holy bad luck batman
well after blowing a jdm f22b 1.5 weeks ago, by throwing a bearing (3 days after an oil change mind you, go figure), i finally got my new f22b in on monday. Today is wednesday and guess what happens. Boot up car, I hear a very small pop noise, but car ran flawless, ignored it. Went to NAPA to pick up some more royal purple, and decided to check it out, pop the hood, turn over the car, and bam, spark plug wires on cylinders 1 and 3 pop off. I run into napa with the wtf is going on, and they tell me the threading is bad on the head, because they even re torqued the plugs to make sure everything was 100% there, and it was, but compression still leaking.
I don't have the 450$ to have my mechanic swap out a new engine (because the f22b is still under warranty). Is there any other fixes? I heard you can helicoil it. Anyone know the dimensions of the helicoil needed, and the tools required? The car runs, and I had to drive it 3 blocks back home because I don't have the money to tow it, and NAPA said it would be fine to drive home. But can I run the car? I really dont want to **** anything else up, but I've heard of people driving on limited amounts of cylinders. Can I **** **** up? Should I not even start it. I need whatever advice can be thrown my way. Thank you much

I really cant find any info on this topic. Maybe im searching in the wrong places. But since I cant find stuff in the search, can anyone help me , or point me in the wrong direction, or hell even call me a dumbass lol.
dumbass, jk... i wouldnt drive it, but im sure its fine right now. you can helicoil it, but you will have to remove the head. to see the size just check the spark plugs theard.
i dont suggest risking it, but maybe try putting locktite on the theards to seal it

So helicoil looks like best bet? Anyone else wanna confirm, or throw out their opinion? Could use anything and everything. Thanks guys!

get them to fix the engine
get them to fix the engine
I can get the engine replaced. The thing is, I don't have the 450$ to have the new engine put in. My mechanic isn't going to warranty a problem that he didn't cause, u know? Heres a little bump before i go to sleep. yay for public buses

Well the only warranty there is is on the engine itself. I don't think the engine company is going to reimburse me for labor charges, even though morally they should, because they fucked up bigtime by sending me an engine with a fucked head, but i'm going to try hard as hell to press them for ****. It's just really really lame.

WTF?
WTF?
Since you should still have (or still have access to) your old F22b, why not just use the head off that? The head was still ok on that motor right?

looks like that's part of the 'engine itself.' make some stern phonecalls and they will reimburse you for it. i know it feels like a dick thing to do, but in the end you will have done the right thing. good luck with the f22b.

I know they will replace the jdm f22b or reimburse me the 700$ I paid for it, but do you think if I press them they will reimburse me for $450 I paid in labor for it to be installed as well? Thats where my economical problem arises

Yes... You wouldn't have to be spending the $450 to have the motor put back in AGAIN. If it was done right the first time you would still have that $450 dollars.

Clutch replaced 2 weeks ago
Front tires replaced 1 week ago
Engine replaced 4 days ago**
Minor scratches near driver door handle (were there when I bought car).
Kensington CD player, Antenna is broken but easily fixable. CD player works perfectly, but gets no reception as is. Ebay Intake, have Stock intake. Otherly Stock car.
**Engine Info - JDM F22B From Atarco Engine Co.
Threads on cylinders 1 & 3 are bad..
Options: Use warranty to replace engine, you pay whatever mechanic you want to swap in new one. Mechanic helicoil the 2 threads, and ur good to go. Or just replace head.
Car is running right now, but I don't know for how long / how smart it is to drive on it. Clean title. Flawless interior.
Will take any offers... beastslip@gmail.com or pm here. Located in Vacaville, CA (NorCal, near Sac). Could ship at your expense. Anyways just looking for options. Not even 100% sure I wanna sell it. But if someone offers a good deal, I can take it.

no prob, i only said it cause it popped in my head wwhile i was typing.
jdmf22b: i wouldwant it if u werent so far, but i would want it with no engine. got any pics anyway?
like someone else said., why not just swap heads, sell the stuff u dont need when ur done? make the engine place give u a little money back to cover the cost of swapping heads.
or why not learn how to swap the engine urself, its not really that hard.

I dont have any of the tools, knowledge, experience, or friends to help me, that Id need to do it myself. I would love to do it myself, I just cant. Oh and to top it off, my neighbor backed into the passanger side fender this morning hahaha, its only a minor push in, but god just seems to absolutely love me. Good thing we both have quality insurance companies. Im just really racking up points with karma
