Default Somone find my problem !!!! 22 VTEC pressure valve

I have a 92 hatch with an ls vtec (p72) gsr head. For some reason my v-tec clicks when activating and sometimes feels like it not on. i started popping a 22 so i put in a type r oil pump with a spring shim for added pressure. all seemed fine for a day or to until today when i romped it on the highway i threw a code 22 again. Why does this keep happening? Would the port size on my oil fittings be to small?Perhaps theres blockage somewhere.someone help me out.

22 is vtec oil pressure switch. Either you've got a faulty switch or a fault in the wiring.

It sounds like lack of pressure. why would wiring mess with the way v tec engages. it seems like its more mechanical

If the wiring is messed up somewhere along the way it may not be getting the signal to the ECU to engauge the VTEC components. I had the same problem but it was the pin that I added into the ECU plug, it was loose and whenever anyone bumped my ECU w/ their foot I got a CEL 22. Sometimes it would just throw the code for no reason.

my v-tec engages fine. its not wiring. just for some reason it started to pop a 22. i put the new pump in and it does the same thing. my v-tec makes a clicking noice when it engages. sounds like the pins locking. anyone know what thats all about?

Check the pin first, that sounds like a good chance it's right.

But it doesn't have to be electrical, I used to get a click sound like this.
Turned out I was a little low on oil. After an oil change everything was back to normal.

LS w/GSR head. how did you route oil to the head?

if there is just enough pressure... at higher R's it would work fine, but at lower R's it may see low pressure and set the code.

It could also be that sensor messing with you.

Hey i got a question. since i have an ls v-tec should i be running 4 1/2 quarts of oil for vtec. cause i think the ls only takes 4. that could be causing my problem. this thing loves drinking oil

might wanna take the solenoid off and clean the screens off with some brake cleaner... they can get blocked by built up oil/sludge and not allow the right pressure to flow... this happened to my car and it threw a cel for the oil pressure switch... cleaned it up popped it back on and all was well
