does vtec tend to wear out while milage increases? just got my ej1 and its has 200+ kms on the z6.

Anything you do to your car wears it down. Nothing bad comes from daily driving, unless of course you crash into a wall. That would suck.

 

Don't worry about the VTEC wearing out... the whole engine will die a long time before the VTEC pins will wear out, if that can even happen. I' ve never heard of it anyways. Besides, it's a Honda engine, and 200,000 kilometers is only roughly half-way through it's life. Expect that engine to run strong for a long time if it's properly maintained and taken care of.

 

i beat the **** out of my z6... almost daily.. and its got 260 000 on it.. just give it those oil changes

 

my 99 si has 150k+ miles and it still running like a top

 

I bought a gsr motor with 181,000mi on it. I put another 40k on it in the following year and a half. VTEC worked just as good as when i bought it.

 

My car is slow...is my Vtach Broke!?
