**Stupid theives Broke my Hood cable**
Good Afternoon,
H-T….I want to start off by saying “Yes….I have searched”
I have found a lot of topics based off my problem but none answering my questions.
Here is the situation a few nights ago some punk kids broke into my car, while doing so they damage the hood cable.
Now the hood was open, and there was half of the cable still connected to the hood latch. But I wanted to relocate the cable and close the hood. My friend and I did this, and it all worked fine….
We shorten the cable, did a test close, and it all looked perfect. But as soon as we went to relocate the cable behind the bumper….the black sleeve came off the small portion, of the braided line.
Now assuming that this wasn’t a big deal we closed the hood, thinking we can just pull on the steel line, and the hood would open. This was not the case, the hood did not open.
So my questions to H-T are as follows:
Do I need the black sleeve on the steel cable, for the hood to pop open?
What are other proven ways of opening, your hood in this circumstance?
Has anyone had a similar problem, if so what did they do?
Is there a certain direction I should pull the cable, for it to open?
What is the probability that the hood latch is jammed?
Thanks in advance…..
Any information would be helpful

they can jam easily
if u dont lube them they jam
now, for you to get the hood open, people will tell you to drill out the hood and ****.. but dont bother
get underneath the bumper with some really good lighting, with a peice of metal with a l shaped end.. u should be able to work it around the area to pop the latch.. most likely the latch is jammed
once u get it open, grease up the lathc...
however, this might just be a case of your cable.. no u dont need the sleeve to open it.. the sleeve is just there so the cable can go around corners and **** without rubbing on **** and getting caught.. its possible its caught on something
when u pull the cable can you hear the latch opening and closing?

Yes the black sleave is neccisary it sets the pull of the cable no matter how its routed.
You may be able to pull the cable under the dash with some pliers but you propably will have to pull it a lot if the sleave came off.
Latch good easily be damaged.
I'd replace the cable with a oem Honda one there pretty cheap less then $20 once you get it open. you may be able to remove the black shroud under the front bumper to be able to reach your arm up and move the latch by hand.

so without the sleeve on the cable, the idea of pullng on the existing peice of cable to open the hood is useless......

The only piece left is the braided metal line....

i have only the braided line...about 7inches of it...and mine pulls just fine. i think its your latch, i'll take pics if you need/want.
but just letting you know that you dont need to have the sleeve
but just letting you know that you dont need to have the sleeve
The latch looks or should i say feels jammed.....the cable does not have any slack, it feels like it has been stretched to it's max. It feels like it no longer has any popping capability. If the latch is jammed will i be able to pop it from the grill, the entire hood latch setup is visible.......Someone help
now that u got the hood open... go to the junkyard or something and get another hood latch and cable put them back in and relocate your hood cable..my latch and cable got messed up about a day ago... just replace them shouldnt take more than 20 min
