Boost spiking with AVCR, what should I do?
I have a Garrett GT25R bb turbo on my D16Y8 and I control the actuator (wastegate) on the turbo with an Apexi AVCR. I have the AVCR set up to limit the boost to 10psi, but when it spools up (even in 4th) it'll hit 12 or 13psi, then go down to 10psi. How should I mess with the AVCR settings... should I change the solenoid duty? Increase or decrease... what will it do? Right now it's set at 62%... TIA
Decrease the boost duty, also make sure you have the solenoid installed correct.
With a external wastegate I believe it has to be normally closed.

I've never heard of that... where can I find that?
It's been working okay until now, but I never really looked at the peak values after opening it up on the highway so I don't know for sure if it's been doing this since I got it running again. I don't think it did this at the tuners, but I relocated the AVCR solenoid closer to the actuator so the lines would be shorter since I had it tuned. I'm going to play with those numbers and see what happens.

I played with the duty cycle today on the highway a little, and it seemed to like 50% right on. It spools up to about 10psi and holds there perfectly. It takes a little bit longet to get there now, but as long as it doesn't go over like it was before.
when at boost level scroll down to feed back. x is off, up and down to adjust the number feed back. this is the feedback fromm solnoid to controller. there also a self learn program that will set automatic when you boost a couple of times.hope this helps,
APEXi has recalled the AVCR, I waited for mine for a month, called the people who i purchased it from, and they told me it was on recall, I was wondering why I had $450 extra in my account. Might want to look into that.

Whats the recall for? What did they replace or fix?

I'm not sure, but I need to pickup a few parts from Phase 2 Motortrend here near Diamond Bar, so I'll ask him why they didn't sell me the AVCR (In detail, rather then it was on recall). He just flat out told me, "I'm really not gonna sell you a product, that I don't trust. Seeing, they recalled it."
Whats the recall for, my avc-r is also overboosting??? I use the com to the top of my waste gate and the nc to the compressor outlet.
FYI for all, there was nothing wrong with it, I just had to lower the solenoid duty cycle. Don't poo-poo the AVC-R... it's an awesome tool.
