i hear knock knock knock noise coming from my j1 cable tranny. when i step on the clutch it goes away. there are times when it would be really loud. any idea what this problem could be? thanks in advance

 

Could be the input shaft or throw out bearing. Pressure plate might have come loose. These are just thoughts. The only way to really be sure is to pull the tranny out.

 

Bump! From someone who may have experienced this in the past. Me and a buddy of mine are having the same problems on our ITR trannies. We first thought our AC compressors were going out but I found out today that when I get on the clutch, the knocking goes away.

 

Pull the tranny as soon as you can and then look there from further inspection, did it just start on its own?? Maybe a hard launch and broke the counter shaft or main shaft?

 

This has happened to two transmisisons Ive had. Its happening now on my ITR transmission. I think the bearings need replacement.

 

What the hell is up with everyones clutch and a/c going out over the summer, i got problems in both of these departments.
