Default Timing Question PLease Help

I read posions faq on timing belt on his mom's z6.
My question is this.
Before I pulled off the crank, I used whiteout and made sure that I aligned everything before I put the crank back on.
However, now that I put the crank on and like up the TDC on the top cam gear with the marks on the plastic, BTW I never took off the cam gear, my timing seems off.
I have rotated it a few times and it seems smooth, and fine.
Anyway to verify my timing is right.
Also on the crank there is 2 lines, and then 3 lines later, where should the marking line up on?
I mean, I had an allen key holding the flywheel during all of this, so I know it definately didn't move.
Also I have a theory, how can i mess up the timing, if the crank never moved since it was held by the allen key holding the flywheel.
