Ok. I have a 98 GSR with t3t4 turbo .50 trim etc....check sig..I am at 258 whp at 8psi(low) and 275 whp(highboost 10psi) though I would like to hit the 300 whp and am thinking about rasing my boost to around 13psi. Is this too much for a stock GSR motor with 60K on motor? Or should I just go ahead and drop the pistons and rods and run 1bar to be ont he safe side? Please can somebody help me with some knowledge on the high compressionGSR motor? thanks

 

oye.....alright first off don't base reliability off boost pressure. It's the resulting power that the boost provides that does the damage. You are much safer running 240whp at 13psi then 275 at 6PSI.....get it. Secondly 300whp is a decision you make. Yes it's been done (Even me) and yes it should last, but if your tuner doesn't know what he is doing or makes one error the life span of that engine will decrease. I say if you truely arn't scared of rebuilding your engine go ahead and shoot for 300. When it does break then go ahead and rebuild then your setup for a lot more horsepower and since it's a fresh rebuild it'll last a long time

Hey man thanks but I am going to just wait and save the $ needed to get rods and pistons so I can run 1 bar....thanks though!

 

14psi is that it? forged pistons and rods and blockguard can 20-24psi all day long

 

I'd say go for it. If you have a reliable tuner and it's someone who is reputable with their work, then 300whp on a stock GSR block is very well attainable.

 

just out of curiosity what kind of horse power numbers can a gsr block take before you need to sleeve it?

 

Wow a stock turbocharge GSR taking 13psi. That's a little too much I think for a 10-1 compression. I seen someone blow their GSR motor after turn up the boost from 8psi to 11psi with in 1 1/4 run at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. I don't know man, It might it be fast but sure is not going to be reliable until you fix the internal.
