have you guys seen that show full throttle on the history channel where they soup up various identical classic cars for the strip and winner takes all? they would upgrade carbs, intake manifold, headers, exhaust, ignitions with msd and sometime even full motor swap, then top it off with 100 - 200 shot of nos. last nights show with the firebirds (and most that i've seen) can bearly break 14 seconds! are they represent those cars well because i always thought those monster V8 are the ones to be feared. i would like to see an episode with our integras and see what they can do.

 

ls1 trans am's are nasty.. i rode in a ws6 and **** man, that thing was wicked

 

thats why i dont like musclecars. only a hondful of them broke 14s, and only the big blocks did that. theyre so rare these days that theyre badly overpriced. american v8s these days are much faster. a camaro ss will blow away most muscle cars from back in the day.

 

I don't have anything against domestics because my dad is a fan of it. I grew up riding in his cars, reading and hearing all about them. However, he has a grudge toward imports. That's fine with me. One day I'll shut him up by beating him. My dad now owns an Mustang Mach I. Got to wait until I boost to see the end results.

i agree, i mean a lot of the muscle cars were quick but nothing like today. They just had a lot of weight and a lot of horsepower. Now u got the 03 cobras runnin mid to high 12s, z06s in 12s, vipers, and even the camaros.

thats because theyre all too ignorant to believe that anything besides v8s can make over 100 hp.

no its because kids in their 4 bangers think they can walk svt cobras with their vtec power...ive seen kids think the gt or cobra is racing...pull...and think theyve beaten a cobra in a race...and its like are you that stupid..

 

I saw that episode too, they also do import cars on that show. The other one I seen them do was a 1st Gen RX7, don't remember the times but it was pretty cool ( I use to own a FB once). The show is cool, I learned some stuff from there!

 

yea the shows kool but they basically do the same thing in every episode. the usual intake/exhaust better flow this - better flow that. then usually msd comes in the picture, with a big healthy shot of nos... i'd like to see them get more technical with internals and "secret" work.

 

Those guys also work on imports. They did a couple of older 240s awhile ago. Originally they had a show that was only about imports. That show had a really low budget and eventually got canned though.

 

well, you have to remember that those older cars from the 60's and 70's and even 80's were pretty darn heavy...with most cars sporting full steel bodies. also, although i don't know what generation firebirds they were running on the show, the V8's offered in the 3rd gen firebirds (1982-1992) were dogs. the best one pumping out 230HP from a L98 5.7.....the TPI 5.0 305's put out 190HP...and the quadrajet carbs were worse...like 140HP...out of a V8...and all this in a 3500+ lb. car = . 5.0 Mustangs on the other hand were pretty much the best bang for the buck with 235HP. I had a 1990, and before any mods, AND a 2.73 stock gear ratio, i went 14.88 at 96MPH...stock. with just a few mods, you were knocking at 13's...in a 3200lb. car. Until GM came out with the LT1, you couldn't get a better V8 car to whoop *** in. Hell, even the newer F-bodys are around 3500-3700lbs...

well i'm an import guy and my brothers all muscle. Like he says "you ricers turbo to keep up with my all motor well i can turbo to". but he's got a 91 rx7 w/ a 387 in it, i think that is cheating. His other quote "as i walk through the valley of rice, i shall fear no turbo, for torque arth with me."

 

when ur bro says the comment on the turbo, go to the kills forum and show him the video of the turbo lt1 vs the turbo civic hatch...

 

my dads got a 98gt with 4.10s, intake, exhaust, and PI manifold. I'm hopin for low 13s with slicks and or good traction...

Is he aware of some of the times the all motor Honda's are running now?
