Compression Test Cost...?
What do Shops usally charge for a Compression Test...?
I might be buying a car from out of state and just want the car to be checked out before I put money down.
Anything else I can check before buying?
BTW the car is a 94' Si with B16A2
Thanks

Yeah it isnt hard....maybe 10 minutes at the most but you know a shop will get you....probably cahrge full one hour "diagnostic" fees. Hell have the guy buy a compression tester and do it himself and report the results to you

if I were you, I'd just buy a gauge ($30-40) and do it myself... you'll definitely use it again. but that's just me.. .if you're not intending to work on your car once you have it, it shouldn't cost more than $40 to have it tested.

I guess no one else saw that his getting the car from out of state. So its unsure for anyone if his actually going to check it out or have someone else check it for him.
I really hope your going out there to check it. Before you leave check carfax for any kind of wrecks. Then when you go out there drive around and make sure it would make the trip back, drive around for an hour or so, take it through trafffic and make sure it doesnt over heat, have it idling and check for leaks, raise the idle to 3000 and look for leaks again. Take the car to autozone and rent the compression tool and do it in the parking lot (30 deposit and you get that back). Then rent there leak down tester and do that in there parking lot again. Have the owner of the car now do an oil change on it and check the oil color. If all signs are good pick it up.
