You dont need any special ball joint remover tool. Those dont work very good. The easiest way to do it is by removing the snap ring w/ a snap ring remover (you can buy these for 1.50 at harbor freight). And then you remove that ring piece that the guy is referring to w/ a flathead. making sure the tie rod is disconnnected, you can pull the hub upward to get a better angle and hammer the **** out of the ball joint until it slowly creeps out. Installation is reverse.

Yeah. But even after the snap ring is out, it does take a bit of a beating in order for it to pop out of the little spot. I just dont understand why some people take their entire knuckles to shops and have them do it, when they just do the same thing =P...
Anyways. Speaking of ball joints. I need a ball joint because I mushroomed my other one. Does anyone know a site to buy them cheap? The autozone in my area sells them for 29 bucks! TWENTY NINE BUCKS?!!? ********..

you need a ball joint popper tool also called a PICKLE FORK or to remove the LCA to get to THAT POINT, and u gotta hammer the **** out of it but be careful not to rip the boot. which is hard to do.

I think most of us were assuming you already have the knuckle in a position to where the ball joint can be hammered out. You can't just remove the knuckle form the lca and then hammer the ball joint out because w/o taking the snap ring out, you're not going to get anywhere. You dont have to be careful when hammering the **** out of it at all. Who cares if you rip the boot when you're replacing it anyways? It's gonna go in the trash.
