fastest fix for hydrolocked motor
Aight, My buddy just hydro-locked his engine (b18c [gsr]) the other day and now he has to put some new internals in it. Im wondering if you guys have had to do a quick fix on something this major. Were sure he needs new pistons, rods, bearings, and rings and Im pretty sure he is gonna need to have his block bored.
My question is: what is the most cost effective way that he can do all of this? This car is his daily driver so he HAS to have it running A.S.A.P.. He found some type r pistons and rods for sale for 275 bucks but Im not sure if he should do that or try to find a whole bottom end.
What u guys think???

The best way would be to find out what broke.. Did you remove the plugs and crank it over to get the water out.. After that put the plugs back in and see if it starts and runs good.. If it doesnt then you need to tear down the engine to see whats broke.. It could be a bent rod or a hole in a piston..
If you just want to rebuild the engine then do that but I would tear the engine apart to check its condition before you buy anything if it doesnt start..

Dropped the pan, ewwwww nasty, looks like a bomb went of fin there. Nah, not really thgat bad but you can tell that the rods are bent (#1#2 @ least) and I dont think we should risk putting the same pistons back in if the rods look as they do.

Check the crank also to make sure its not messed up..

just give the engine a good look over and see if it is fixable, I mean that is really all you can do, then you can make a good decision. BTW if he is going to get a new motor I will take his old one.
