Default Yet another overheating question?

Novice mechanic, so be kind? Son's car randomly running hot (3/4+). Water pump, thermostat and fan relay replaced three weeks ago, so fan is running. 1993 year 155,000 miles. Car ran real hot (pegged) before he noticed and got it home a month ago. How can we test to see if head gasket, or head warped? Or, should we go to radiator first to see if (original) radiator clogged and needs to be replaced? Is there any good way to test an old radiator to see how it's performing? Thanks!

is there any kind of smoke coming out of the exhaust?
And what about your coolant? Does it look like any oil is leaking into it?

i just did a head gasket for a buddy of mine with the same thing happening. everything had been changed (water pump, thermostat, radiator and some hoses) but it was still always close to overheating. i took the head off and it had minor cracks in the head gasket, so we change it the head gasket...problem solved.

you should replace both the radiator and the head gasket. chances are the head gasket burned up on the inside so you wont see any leakage. its not to bad of a DIY job pretty straight foward if you own a haynes manual and a torque wrench. Radiators are really ony good for 100,000 miles then the passages are just building up corrosion. att 155,xxx i would just do both to be safe and not chance warping the head if it already isn't. If you do decide to do the head gasket your self be sure to sit the head on a piece of glass, its the most simple way of cheching for warpage

Wow your kidding right? Radiators are only good for 100,000mi? Thats a new one.

Any radiator shop can pressure test it for you.
