Default ebay intake plus heat resistant spray paint

hey guys i was just wondering something...as we know the engine gets hots and the intake is in that area...since mine came from ebay it really doesnt stay cold with all that heat...so i was thinking and when i was at Orchards i say a can of engine enamel that said "heat resistant"....so i thought hey that might help reduce the heat being absorbed by the Cold air intake...[sorry if i incorrectly say stuff]..but yea continuing so i choose a metallic silver since the intake is steel and is silver....i spray painted it all around with 2 coats and ill probably add more...but yea so to the main question would it reduced the heat just like one of those heat sleaves[or watever u call them to prevent heat]?????

I have never heard of anybody actually doing that, but you could give it a try and let us know.

heat resistant means that the paint will not chip, flake off or melt. it does NOT mean that it will keep your intake cold. it just means that the paint can tolerate the heat.

like previously stated its only heat resistant to not chip, it will still absorb the same if not more heat from the motor...buy some thermal wrap if you want to keep it colder

Wrap your entire car in tinfoil, then you wont absorb any heat and be invisable to radar

seriously though you dont want thermal wraps, but youd rather do tin foil and a towel?? the exhaust wrap is a better idea if your concerned. or you can get ait jet hot coated.

haha.. a towel...

Go to Lowe's and in the insulation section there is a roll of adhesive backed on one side/ foil on the other side insulation. It's about 15-20 bucks a roll.

If you can't afford something right now, save up for it instead of going the cheap way. You'll only end up wasting more money if you don't.
