Bad motor mount - ES inserts?
I have searched and found a lot of information, but it is all contradicting and misleading info. I need some good solid info before i waste all of my money.
Here's the problem. The shitty drivers side upper motor mount (yes, the one next to the timing belt and between the tire and headlight - not the torque mount) is torn and out of place.
My mount doesn't look like the other ones i have seen (the big shiny silver ones) so i don't know if that could be a problem?
I want to get the Energy Suspension inserts for obvious reasons, it's a lot cheaper, and if it can rejuvenate the torn stock mount and make it even better than stock. why not?
Another thing that i saw that was misleading... are the ES inserts just for the torque mounts? in this case i would have to get a whole new mount. there are a couple different sets on ebay, that are totally different looking, is one set for the motor mounts and one set torque mounts?

here are some pics to help out. and is mine torn too bad? should a get a whole new mount?

Torn. And as you can see the brackets holding the bushing are misaligned.

All help is appreciated. Hopefully this will clear things up for me and all the others that have the same problem.

by the pics you've provided, it appears to me that you have a 99-00 civic. that mount is hydraulic, which unfortunately, is more expensive to replace. and i believe that the only mounts that es makes are the rear and two lower torque mounts.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but its absolutely not a PITA - it took all of 5 minutes. It took longer to let the PB Blaster settle on the nuts than it was to install them.

They just slip in under the metal part.

I think the site was something like suspensionrestorationparts.com - but you can get just as good, if not better prices off of e-bay or the vendors section. I believe I paid about $30 for 3 inserts - the rear mount and the passenger and driver side upper mounts.
I only installed them as a means to stiffen up my worn out stock mounts that had about 200k on them but if I could do it again, I'd just go with fresh stock mounts. The interior buzz at idle is fine for me but not for most passengers.

I have the same exact problem, i was thinking about going with a completely new hasport driver side upper mount but i figured for the price i can buy almost 3 new ones from the dealer...... so im going with an OEM replacement now that i have the mount inserts on my torque mounts and rear mount, its stiff enuff!
HASport does make replacements for our chassis. They are especially useful when performing a swap but they cost a lot more than OEM stuff, so I didn't bother recommending it.
Jimfab makes some too, so that's another option....

Well my car is close to 10 years old, so if by getting a brand new on i think my chances are greate rto it not brekaing anytime soon but truthfully who knows how it will hold it, if i see that it not holding up due to the power im putting down always room to upgrade, but OEM can definately but a good reliable quick fix!
