Arite people.....juss swaped my EK with a B16a2.....i had my good friend do it for me because he's a mechanic and does these swaps all the time. Well to make a long story short i just got my car back on Saturday. It was fine up until yesterday. I took it for a ride and noticed that vtec was fucked up....Everytime vtec would engage it would sound like the car was choking and not getting any power...(almost like a series of mini backfires). So i talked to him and he came over to take a look at my car....he noticed that maybe one of the vtec wires might of came loose but he couldnt do anything at my house, i was gonna have to wait until today to get it fixed...he told me the car would be safe to drive, just not to hit vtec...so i took one of my friends home last nite and on my way back some crazy **** happened...i was coming off a stop sign nice and slow...First gear was brought to a mere 3000rpms then i shifted to second....when i hit the gas the car didnt move then all the sudden....BOOOOOOOM!!!! sounded like a shotgun blast....my car backfired so hard that the muffler blew to pieces....Crazy right?

yea it still runs....when it happened to tell u the truth i was a little scared to even try and start it up again so i left it over night....and my mechanic picked it up this mornin...it started and he took it back to his shop.....im gonna bust his head if he dont fix this....and ill be damed if im paying for a new muffler.!!!

 

The same thing happened to me on my old b16a, i had it for a couple of months and one day i hit vtec and a big BOOM came out from the motor. I was like WTF, after that when ever i reached vtec the car would studder and wont go nowhere. So i took it to the shop trying to find out what happened and found out that the motor didnt back fire, it was the cat that blew up which created so much debre and **** not allowing any air to pass. I welded a straight pipe and it ran stronger then ever.

Yea man.. are you using your stock exhaust still? Cat may be clogged....well, was clogged lol.

 

yea maybe its the stock exhaust. get a highflow and a 2.5 cat-back or something. hey waht kind of exhaust did you have NYCJDM_EG.

you sure no one stuck a bannana in your muffler?

 

It was a custom 2 1/2 exhaust my friend did for me with a fire ball muffler, this happened about 2 years ago but now i got the Apexi World Sport with a test pipe (great exhuast). The reason why the cat blew was because i was running to rich. Just tap on your cat with a rubber mallet and see if you hear any depre.

Why not try to fix the problem instead of doing something stupid like a test pipe on a street car. You're running rich, that means there's power/mileage/driveability to be gained.

I bet your car smells and smokes like a bus in Tijuana.
