i just bought a 95 civic and one of the brake lights does not light up, instead the signal light does. but it doesnt blink, it stays on. anyone have this problem?

 

maybe some one put the bulb in the wrong socket or some wires are crossed.

 

someone forced an 1156 bulb into the 1157 bulb holder in the front of your car.
either that or the wires are crossed/switched somewhere.

 

the wrong bulb forced in where? Turn signal?

i would check this^^^and then i would double check all of your grounds after that!

 

Its got to be a crossed wire somewere. When I swapped an integra cluster into my EK my high beam light would flash when the right turn signal was on. It was just a crossed wire.

This just made me think off a prank I pulled on a friend before...We had to do some electrical work on his car and we spliced the horn to the turn signal wire. Every time he turned....Honk...honk...honk...honk

 

ok where do i start looking for crossed wires?

make sure you're bulbs are correct first. It's a really easy mistake.

does the turn signal come on faintly when you turn on the lights?
if so then the previous owner put the socket for the park light and brake lights into the turn signal hole.
