Default How to fool Ecu Rev limitor higher or shut off for racing!!!1

Hi i have a friend who race's his crx. Its got a 1.5 liter, all raced out to race in the ita races. its all legal. Now he wants to kill the rev limiter easy. No chips or new ecu's. he just bought another ecu. Said it would raise it to 8200 and didnt. He's banging out at 7200. he just wants to hit 8200. He's got everything u can buy. He's gonna set his shift light at 8200 if he cuts off the rev limiter. So if someone got an solution Please reply. Dont gimme its a dumb idea blah blah. Because of the motor blows we can swap or rebuild within a day. Thanks

Don't really know of any way to fool the ecu like that. I've never even heard of that being possible.

Well, if it's a 90-91 PM6, you could get it chipped and socketed for around there (if you have a hookup). Then you could run turboedit and get launch control, changed rev limit, everything.

Lol, kind of ironic isn't it. A fully built engine and no management whatsoever.... sounds shady. By "fully built" he may have in fact meant and intake, a header, and an exhaust.

For ITA a chip is the only choice since you have to use the oem ecu and case... but can you chip a dual point ecu? He must have a STD since an HF would run in ITB. As far as fully built goes ITA won't allow too much, why do you want to raise the limiter so high? On stock cams I doubt it will even breathe there.

Why rev the SOHC to 8200?? I wouldn't think it would still be making power anyway unless it had a great cam/valvetrain.
