Uhh no. You need to do alot of research though. Basically in a nut shell, make sure the motor is newer then your car and make sure it could pass smog. Cost 38.50 to take the test.

its simple, its pretty much like a regular smog check. just need the rite ecu, vacumm lines are routed correctly, and if you have a jdm obd1 b16 like i do, you would need to either tap a vacumm line into the intake manifold or get a usdm intake manifold. plain and simple, not as tough as people make it out to be.
The vacuum line to the IM is for the fuel canister, right? Is it acceptable to use a vacuum T from something like the FPR vacuum source?
Sometimes it's easier to get a smog legal aftermarket part than it is to get the OEM part. Exhaust manifold/downpipe is a good example. Unless you get a front clip, it's doubtful that part is going to make it across the pacific in good enough shape to use.
I have an OBD1 ZC motor in place of the non vtec D15. So far I haven't had to smog it but I doubt the smog shop will take a second look. Unfortunately I'm using my D15 exhaust mani...

i just went to smog my gsr hatch, it has intake, header, and exhaust, i did the swap with some help from my dad, when i went to smog it, everything passed except my header, make sure your header is legal or you have the stock one on it, make sure it has the carb exempt tag on the header or they will fail you. i failed for that reason

You can make an appointment with the CA State Ref and ask them what you'll need. First decide if you need to be OBD1 or OBD2 on your set up.

I failed cuz of my timing. Check your timing, make sure its between 14-18 BTDC.
Make sure your ecu doesn't have any CEL codes stored in there.
Make sure your evap purge control solenoid valve is hooked up to the ecu. Some places will use your evap purge connector to wire up the IAB's, so double check that.
Both refs i went to physically checked my ecu, checked to see if i have the H02 sensor, traced all the vaccum lines, checked the year of the motor, checked all of the eletrical plugs.
If i remember anything else, ill let u know.
James.

sorry to bump such an old thread.
but i was wondering when you buy carb legal parts do you buy it for the engine in the car or the car itself?
ie: comptech icebox? i have a civic coupe 98 and a gsr version of the ice box might not fit right? so which should i buy?
