Default which rom burner to buy?

i want to get a rom burner, ive looked at the willem eprom programmer from ebay or xenocron.com and the burn1 from moates.com. can anyone vouch for one or the other or both? right now im leaning towards the willem eprom programmer because i have more choices on chips, not that ill need them i guess, but its also cheaper, but the burn1 looks like it has more user friendly software. i may have missed some other choices for burners as well, but im trying to stay in the sub-$100 price area also. thanks in advance.

Got a willem's shipped from Hong Kong for about 55 bucks off ebay. Came with all the cables, a 29C256, and a usb port

EDIT: I had to get my brother to do some soldering on it (jumping 2 pins) in order to burn 29C256's. The software they sent also did not work with the 29's. I had to use older software

I have a TOP853, a cheap Chinese burner. It's unbelievable simple, just plug and burn. USB, no extra power cables or anything. It was like $80 on ebay, and has never failed me in the few months I've had it. I got tired of flipping switches on my willem. It worked, but this is much easier.

One thing I must point out, the software is kind of funny to use. It's pretty well translated, but one thing made me laugh. If you click on "Seting" [sic] and System, it shows the version as "TopWin Engrish Version"...

I sell both the Willem and the Moates BURN1.

from a useability standpoint, the Moates is much more compact, enclosed in a case and only requires 1 USB cable for power and programming which is nice.

the willem is the bargain basement price...you will have to learn it, but once you do, like someone else said its easy.

So, if you have the $93 to spend (BURN1 + shipping), get the Moates, if you are cheap and like to complicate things and DIY, get the Willem. In the end, they both get the job done
