Will a P72 timing belt work with an ITR head?
I have a gsr and just swapped on an ITR head. Can I use the GSR timing belt? I'm wondering if the GSR and ITR belts are the same size? I'm having a hard time with the adjuster taking up the slack and that made me wonder if the belt might be too long. Any ideas?
TIA,
TIA,
I believe so, but if you had an ITR block on GSR head you probably need to get an ITR timing belt, since (correct me if I'm wrong) the ITR uses different oil pump than the GSR.
the height of both the gsr and itr block is the same....but the head on the itr is a p30....so the head is a little shorter....use the p73 timming belt...the p72 is too long and will retard the timing....we had that problem on a 92 hatch
Damn! That's what I feared. Oh well, I'll have to wait three days for the dealer to get one in stock.

Thanks for the help!!
Just called a few Acura dealers and the part number for the ITR T-belt is the same as the GSR T-belt, 14400-P72-014. Looks like I have other issues I guess.....
Anyone care to verify this??

Thanks Val
I have been talking to the Honda Tech that I'm frends with and he helped NAB20 with his setup. The B20 water pump helped him, but that was on a milled head. all my stuff is OEM. B18c block, ITR head, GSR water pump and GSR/ITR t-belt = a loose belt. I'll remove the covers tonight to see what the belt is doing. Maybe like you said, the tensioner is being flaky.......
Hybrid=It's always something.

Hehe...yea same thing happened to my friend's GSR engine...we installed cam gears and then we couldnt tension the belt correctly. I believe buying a new tensioner fixed the problem, Ill ask him to make sure.
