Default Integra Starting sometimes, what else could it be?

I have a 93 integra LS. It wouldnt start today and I have an idea of what it might be but im not sure. I heard of the main realy goin out because of the solder points would seperate when it would got hot.

Today it was really tosty outside, i drove home from my friends parents house. When i tried to start it after i got home, it would turn over but nothin would happen(forgot to check for the fuelpump humm when this happened). Tonight it stormed and for really cool and wet ourside and it started right up.
If its the main relay i know how to switch that out...am i able to just change the starter solenoid or do i have to change th whole starter if its that?

I am wondering if it could be the main relay or another possibility? I heard of the starter solenoid not working also. Any info would be helpful.

90-93 integras are known for the starter problems with similar problem you described. I'd check the conditon of the starter before I'd replace the main relay. BTW you can't just replace the starter solenoid, it is replaced as a whole unit: starter and starter solenoid. Also have you checked the main relay yet?

no, i havnt checked the main relay but i told my friend(in the first post i meant to say its my friends car) when it does it again, turn the key to the on position and listen for the humming and i think that that will isolate the problem, if it does hum its the starter and if it doesnt hum its the main relay. He has to put his ear up to the rear seat to listen to the humm tho, last time i fixed his car, his ignitino coil went out.

at first i thought it would be the igniter(b4 even lookin at it) that went out since i heard the igniter goes out around the same time as the coil but after it started up tonight when it was cool out, i knew it had to be either the main relay or the starter solenoid that was bad becasue of the heat.

if it is the starter, would that fix the problem because its caused by old age or would it be the same problem wit ha new one?

i got that problem with my teg a few months ago, i thought it was the main relay but it was not... it all happen because my girlfriends... fat friend sat on my rear seats and fucked up my fuel line.... took me and my mechanic 3 hours to find out the problem... and than we finally found the fuel line all loose so we had to rewire the whole line... after that everything is finee..

no one really sits in the rear of the car. it was just him so i think its either the starter or the main relay. didnt the pump hum any when it turned on?

You said when you go to start the car, it turns over. If the engine is turning over but not running, then it isn't your starter. My guess is your MFR. The next time you go to start your car, look at your CEL light, it is designed to click off after a second or two, when your fuel system is pressurized. If it stays on, then it is probably your MFR. At least that is how my 92 RS CEL functions in relation to the fuel system.

carry an extra spark plug in your car. Next time the car doesnt start pull out the spark plug wire and put the spark plug in the wire and ground it to the block. Have someone crank it while your holding it. If you dont have spark, then your problem is most likely the ignitor. Even though you put on a new coil, you should still get a multimeter and double check the resistance on it. When ignitors start to go out, they sometimes work and other times wont work. If you get spark, put the plug back in the engine and crank it. If it still doesnt turn on, then the problem is somewhere in your fuel system.
