Pioneer deck into 92 DX hatch HELP!!!
I just replaced the stock deck with a Pioneer unit. It works fine, but the only thing that I need help with is when I turn off the car, the deck and my clock re-sets themselves.
As far as the wiring went..I bought the conversion harness from circuit city, and matched up all the colors for the wires, the only problem I encountered was the ignition/acc (red) and yellow (batt/memory) wires would not give power to the deck for whatever reason? There was power going thru because I tested the wires with a current tester. But the deck would not power up, so I ended up just wiring the red and yellow wires to the radio and accessory fuses under my dash.
IN A NUT SHELL my problem is, everytime i turn off my car my deck and clock resets themselves..My clock also does not light up unless i hold down the button next to the re-set key.

To simplify things for novice radio guys, go to circuit city. Ask for honda harness, then ask for pioneer harness. The honda harness plugs into your oem plug and has a circuit city harness instead of cut wires, then the pioneer harness is the same way. Plug honda into honda, pioneer into pioneer, circuit city into circuit city, no cutting, no soldering, no shrink wrap, and no zip tie.

the same thing happened in my civic. What you do is get a test light and check wires under your dash that have a constant power while the car is off, and splice it and run a separate wire and run it into your unit for a constant power source.
hope that helps

my deck is working. i can listen to cd's and all that, but my issue is stated above..everything works, but the deck and clock always reset themselves when i turn off the car..which i guess has something to do with the yellow and red wires..
to the guys who said i crossed wires, are you suggesting that i connect the yellow to the red and the red to yellows? because right now they're red to red and yellow to yellow

Did your clock used to work fine before? Maybe the memory power to the clock came disconnected, and that is in-line with the stereo harness memory, I think that is what happened with my friend's EG, and we just tapped the memory wire from the stereo, to the clock, and it worked fine. I know its not the exact same scenario that you have, but you've already learned that its a memory power problem, whenever you shutdown, it resets, so you are getting no memory power, which is the red wire (constant voltage from the battery). The yellow is the ACC, or the switching power that turns on the clock and radio when the ignition is turned on. You have no Power man, thats about it, just ACC power that gets cut off everytime you turn off the car. Go to Bestbuy, not Circuit City, and buy their OEM stereo harnesses, they are dirt cheap cause Bestbuy makes their own brand (Dynex, Insignia), and it will be plug and play, OH AND DONT FORGET TO RUN THE GROUND COMING OFF THE DECK DIRECTLY TO A CHASSIS GROUND, DO NOT WIRE IT INTO THE HARNESS LIKE THE REST OF THE WIRES. Most aftermarket decks need this, due to their high power internal amps and higher voltage pre-outs now.
for some reason mine did the same thing when i was hooking it up. I ended up fixing it by running a constant power wire from the fuse box, hooking it up to the first optional fuse and just running it straight to the yellow on the deck, the red wire just went to the ignition wire... here this should help too its a diagram of the oem wire colors and what they do. http://www.streetdreams.com

this is the correct answer !!! check your fuse under the hood.
I had the same problem back in the day.
