Do I have a bad ignitor on my b16 swap....yay more problems
Well I've been searching around and I think that the ignitor on my dizzy is going bad or has a bad connection maybe. Here's whats going on when i drive.
Cruising at lets say 4000rpm, 5th gear (approx 65mph) about 1/2" of input on the gas pedal the tach well randomly start jumping either higher in the rpm range or lower, accompanied by complete loss in engine power or no gain in engine from cruising speed. Then if I just want to, I'll mash on the gas and the tach just slams straight to 0rpm and the engine bogs like crazy. But other times the engine will just accelerate like normal. And the random tach jumping and power loss can happen in any gear. Also when the tach jumps and I lose almost all engine power the speedo also will fall with the tach, but slower. Timing is pretty spot on too mechanically and ignition wise.
I'm throwing no CEL's. TPS is brand new and voltage is .5V closed, 4.4-4.5V WOT, MAP is good, knock sensor is wired correctly, O2 has been converted properly. I'm running a stock JDM p30 ECU on a JDM b16 sirII. Compression is good, dont remember the numbers but bad compression wouldnt lead to random flucuations in power i dont think.
I checked the rotor on the dizzy, there is what looks to be some charring or black/browness of some kind. The cap isn't damaged at all, there is no red dust inside the cap, the 4 metal conductors for the plug wires look good but have some white (looks like a spark plugs thats running lean), plugs are brand new. Plug wires are good too.
I have a HELMS so i'll check out the dizzy later on today when i have time. So does it sounds like im right in thinking that the ignitor is bad/going bad?? And can it be fixed without going and buying new parts or a new dizzy??
Sorry this was long but i wanted to be thorough. Thanks guys

I'll test it tomarrow, but shouldnt I be throwing a code if the ICM was bad??? Would any other place have them in stock?? ie. Shucks, NAPA??
