HeadUnit getting constant power
Hey guys,
I suck with audio and electronics first off so help me out. I've wired a few headunits before without a problem but I bought a 1993 integra and a lot of the wiring was hacked up. The face is a pioneer, and the problem is that it was constantly getting power and I think that it was draining my battery even though I would turn it off.
I took it out to look at the wires and the red wires and yellow wires were capped together (4 wires, 2 Yellow, 2 red). When I seperated the wires and put yellow to yellow and red to red, the headunit will not turn on. I believe the red is a constant power and the yellow gets powere with ACC on. Whats the next step here? Thanks H-T

Since the wires are hacked up, it's hard to tell which one goes where, yellow and red are supposed to be separated, not together. here is a specific wiring link to the 93 teggy

Update.
My neighbors an electrician and good with audio wiring and stuff. The stock integra harness was missing a wire, it was de pinned or ripped out, whatever. Because of this, I ran to Best Buy and bought a brand new harness for like $20. It turns out the missing wire was an orange one for "dimmer" so we had no use for it anyways. We downloaded a schematic for a 93 teg and for my headunit and follwed the wires and ran everything 100% correctly.
Plugged it in and still no power! This led me to believe that the problem was behind the harness even further down the line. Long story short I lost patience for it and had my buddy install an illuminated switch to power the Headunit on and off, without it draining my battery. Now it will also save my presets. Not the best scenario but it does the job.

for the aftermarket bits yellow is constant, red is switched.. did you check all your fuses before you threw in the switch? only reason i ask is that maybe the PO blew the fuse and didn't know where to look for it. the fuse panel under the dash has the fuse for the switched feed, but the constant feed's fuse is in the panel under the hood.
not guaranteeing that's the problem here, but it's a common oversight.

As mentioned, it sounds like you have a blown fuse, check fuses #14-15A, 12V [constant] and #22-10A, [12V switched] both are in the under dash fuse box. 94

Again, do not just eyeball the fuse, use a 12V test light to test them in the fuse box, test both the fuses test tips. 94
