Will a stock clutch effect dyno #'s on my turbo ls?
A friend is installing my drag 3 kit on my turbo LS pretty soon, and his shop has a dyno, so he's gonna throw it on the dyno for me. i will be open downpipe, but i will still have a stock clutch. what i want to know is, haveing a stock clutch wont effect my HP numbers will it??
No..
wont a weak clutch affect how much HP you'll get at the wheels though? with a stock clutch and say 10 PSI you'll be getting clutch slippage, and doesn't that slippage translate into lost HP at the wheels?
I'm not a clutch or tranny expert but I've just heard these terms mentioned before and I have a vague idea of how they work.
Im not sure, but I would think that a bad clutch that slips would show on the dyno. I would think the graph would look jagged or have some dips. If the clutch is really realy bad then im sure it would just drop off. But your clutch has to be almost toast for it not to hold...

EDIT: I saw that you said the clutch has to be "almost toast not to hold" will you be able to tell a little bit though?

you will see your clutch slip on the dyno by justlooking at your graph. You can take your stock clutch u pthat high but it all depends if you can put that pwr down to the dyno. you will see a dip in hp and torque .when clutch is slipping you can actually hear it on the dyno you revs will spin up and the car will not really move the wheels faster. It will be like revving in neutral
