Default t3 vs t3/t4

on a honda motor t3 vs t3/t4 at the same boost leaval will u make more hp with the t3/t4 if so how much more u think

t3 with a .60 comp/.63 ex housing with a stage 1 wheel
t3/t4 like the one that come's with the drag and revhard kit

at about 10-16psi

on a h23 motor but it should be about the same as b18 gain h23 just got more hp stock

the t3/t4 hybrid is going to produce more power than pretty much anything with a t3 compressor.

At the expense of spool-up time. A T3/T4 will take longer to get into boost, and hit full boost than a T3 turbo. There is suck a thing as "too big" of a turbo for a setup. I think a T3/T4 is too big for a D16 engine, for example.

do you think that a 60-1 turbo is too big for a 2.0 liter ls/vtec fully built longblock with a stand alone running 10psi on the street and 20+ at the track??

Wow, good question. I think it may be fine at 20PSI, but it will take longer to spool.

I would think that at 20+ psi that turbo would be hitting serious compressor surge. Especially on a bigger bore b20 motor.

um, no. the T3/T4 uses the T3 exhaust housing so you have the exact same spool up time as a T3 with the same turbine configuration. just a bigger compressor wheel. more power at same boost.

Um, no. The turbo still has a larger compressor wheel which also needs to be turned. More mass=more lag. Compressor housing sizes play a role in lag too. A T3 60 trim turbo will spool quicker than a T04E 57/T3 hybrid any day. I'll put my lifesavings on it.

Yep, you sure don't know what you're talking about. Percieved 'lag' and spool up are a measure of the inability of a turbine & compressor combination to produce boost. What do you think creates this boost? Yes, the compressor. Compressor wheels and housings are designed to flow a certain amount of air at certain shaft speeds. This means that although the shaft speed may remain constant, 'lag' and spool up time can be affected by the inability (or ability) of the compressor to flow air at that shaft speed.

Also, the turbine is driven by exhaust gas.... that originally came in as mixture from the intake manifold... and the air came from the compressor....

93LSivic, you are right. For the B20Z, which has a 3.30" bore and 3.50" stroke, at 20Psi, the compressors that put it under the surge limit are the T3 Super 60 and the TO4E 40 and 46 trim. My reference is http://www.turbofast.com.au/turbomap.html
The 60-1 will not work at that boost level on the B20Z.

I took my drag3 turbo apart and polished the inside of it, well the parts i could see, it looks like a mirror, and now the turbo spools up a good bit faster, oh and without my cat on the car it feels as it spools up faster than my old greddy setup.
