Default knock sensor question?

I'm puttin a 99 civic si b16a2 into my 93 del sol si, do I need to have a knock sensor? I know what it is for, but does it affect the performance of the ecu if I don't have one? Thanks

You need to have it hooked up, if the ECU you are using is looking for it. I assume your converting it to OBDI. If your running a chipped ECU, then it might not use a knock sensor.

That sensor does exactly what it says, it listens for knock, and adjusts the timing to get rid of it. However, its only works until about 4000 rpm, and then stops since it can't determine knock from normal engine noise above that RPM.

it depends what ecu you're gonna run. if you decide to run a P30 (or any dohc vtec ecu for that matter), you'll need to wire it or else you will get a check engine light. if you run a chipped P28, you wont need to wire it since it doesnt look for the sensor

Ok, well I don't really mind a check engine light, but is there a certain plug that I have to get to run a knock sensor or something? I have a chipped ecu but I don't know exactly which ecu it is because the guy i bought it off of took the stickers off of it.
