Default SRS Light

I have the JDM SRS MOMO steering wheel, but the SRS light still comes on. When I first had it on, I did not have this problem, but after i took off the airbag part to fix the alignment of the steering wheel it stays on. I drove with no air bag to test that it was correct and after i plugged it back in, it is still on. How do I get it to turn off. Thanks

When I put bags back into my theft recovery 97 accord we had to reset the airbag computer even though it was not removed from the car. They just took both bags. It would appear that when the car is started without a bag that the computer stores this info and will not reset when the bags are replaced. You will either have to reset the computer yourself or get a honda dealer to do it. The ones in my area charge $35 or so. I have a friend who did mine. If I can get in touch with him I will get the info. If you do this yourself just be sure to not stick your head in front of the bag while performing the procedure. The chances are very very small that a bag will go off but they can so protect your head when doing this. There have been several instances of people in salvage yards being hurt by bags going off during removal. Most occured with cars that were hit in the front and the bags didn't deploy intially but when they were bumped during removal they went off. Anyhow I am not trying to scare you just providing you with some facts. If in doubt go to the dealer..........

Well I am sorry that I wasted my time posting here that my friend took care of this for me. I do in fact have a copy of how to reset the bags here now. He just gave them to me a few minutes ago. I do not want the liability if something happens while he is trying to reset his computer. I don't want it on my conscious. Bags are expensive to replace also. Just trying to be helpful take a chill pill dude. I worked in a nationally known import salvage yard for over a year (july '00-august '01)so I do know a little about airbags. Also for what it is worth Honda/Acura airbags went from what are known as first generation airbags to second generation airbags in 1996. 1995 and earlier cars are first gen and 96+ are second gen. Only differences in models; like the Integra that have the same shape bag in the different year range; is the plugs on the bags and the SRS computer itself. The second gen. bags deploy slower than the first gen bags. I took 94 accord bags and put them into my 97 accord. Just changed the plugs on the bags to second gen plugs. Just be careful!!!

1.make sure the ignition switch is off
2.jump the service connector for the srs system(looks like ecu plug that you jump for codes)located under your steering wheel and fits in the fuse box
3.turn the ignition switch ON (ll)
4.the srs indicator light comes on for about six seconds and goes off. remove the jumper within four seconds after the srs light goes off
5.the srs light will come back on. reconnect within four seconds after the light comes back on
6.light goes off and then remove the jumperwithin four seconds
7.the srs light will then blink two times if you did it right
turn the ingnition switch back off and wait ten seconds
I did this last night on a Civic and it worked fine. Just use a paper clip to "jump" the yellow two wire plug at the fuse panel.

(Looks like the service connector near the ecu but is yellow.)

I found the yellow connector that goes into the fuse box, but where do I put the paper clip?

YOu put the paper clip in both terminals (close the loop).

Make sure you follow his directions to the T.

DO NOT START THE CAR.

Ithink I found the right connector, but nothing seems to happen. Is it the big one close to the door or the smaller one closer to the center console? sorry for all the questions, but im having a hard time.
