Default Will putting the original cat back on my car kill my acceleration?

Ive got a minime rex with cat back exhaust and i really am tired of loud exhaust and i want to quiet it down buy putting on oem cat on it instead of this test pipe thats on there now.
My question is , will in doing this hurt my good acceleration and gas mileage?

it wont hurt ur gas mileage but acceleration yes, on my b16 hatch with test pipe i would have nice accleration, but wen i threw the cat on for emissions n passed, goig back home onto the freeway my car wouldnt pick up for ***** on the onramp. lol. took it off n back to that nice non lag feel

I took my cat off and replaced it with a test pipe and put the cat back on after getting a ticket and took it back off again and there was a big difference in acceleration but youll get a lil better gas mileage

backpressure normally applies heavier to bigger engines, i.e. V8's, engines made for torque, not hp. besides, theres a shitload of backpressure on the oem cat(too much). I went the cheap route after the cat started to fall apart inside and hollowed the bitch out. You said you have a catback exhaust, does it have a resonator on it?

no its the round cylinder(looks like a muffler) inbetween the cat and the muffler

No a resonator is not a cat.
Do not put your stock cat back on buy a high flow Carsound or whatever. I bought one and had it installed by a local muffler shop for $100 welded in with a warranty. Advantage is that when emissions testing comes around I don't have to do anything my car will pass (it's coming Tennesseans!) I noticed no reduction in acceleration with the high flow cat on my D16Y8. (2&1/4" ID)

this emmissions testing is some bull. luckily i dont have to go through that over here. My car would fail like a mother right now. DC header to a hollowed out cat to an aftermarket universal resonator and then strait outta the back...plus its running rich right now
