I just put a new d16z6 in my car. stock sleeves, forged pistons and rods, built JG head. new ACT clutch and flywheel. Lots of new ****. Some of you might rememeber my post about not being able to start the beast.

Well, i finally figured out why the motor wouldnt start. I got it running a few minutes ago and it was making a horrible screeching noise. i ran it for like 15 secs then i got scared and turned her off.

I know this is a very hard question to ask and get an exact answer, but can anyone think of anything that could cause this? Is it in anyway normal for a new motor to make such noises? And yes there is oil in it

 

I once had a problem like that,,,,
It turned out to be the wrong torqconvertor...

maybe it's your belts? They may be too tight, and that'll cause a squeeling problem.

I dont think my belts are too tight, I guess i could check the alternator belt, thats the only one im running. My timing belt is most def. not too tight.

Even if somehow the pistons were running w/o any oil it wouldnt loud correct? Thinking about it, maybe its external? Ill check my alternator belt cuz i had a hard time getting it on.

 

double check your belts.

 

prob ur alt belt thats what happend to me... lol

 

try and find your girlfriend, in all the confusion about your car she may have wondered into the garage and just so happened to be trying to talk to you while your car was running

 

also check the inspection plate on the side of the tranny where it meets the oilpan

 

just ran into a problem kinda like that ..
the bearing in my dizzy was going out.. made a horrible noise
like a rodent trying to claw it's way out of my head(motor)....

Actually no; if the alt. belt you're running is TOO LOOSE it'll sqeal like a pig; or if there's any oil or crap on it.

...and btw you're timing belt *won't* sqeak if the tension is incorrect (so don't worry about it)

 

from what i hear, it seems like the timing belt tensioner has seized? Anyone heard of that? I loosened it a bit and then torqued it to spec (33lbs)

I put some tape on the top side of the timing belt to see if the tensioner would rip it off and the tape came off.

Its loud to the point where it actually hurts my ears.

 

Most likly your alternator belt. My old rex used do it. Tighten that bitch up.

it wasnt that....i installed a sqeakerunder your hood just to **** you off...but then i started to feel bad so i took it out. got you good ******!
