New Motor In! Sounds funny.
I just swapped in my new LS/Vtec I got from Viren. It is Darton Sleeved, Endyn 9:1 pistons, eagle rods, Jg Pro Series Head.
Now it is making a funny sound when I started it up. It does NOT sound like a Honda. It sounds sort of like a diesel truck, even when fully warmed up and has a completely different tone...which is a deeper, LOUD tone compared to my stock GSR motor. I have heard piston slap on a motor before with forged pistons, but this one sounds different in a weird way. Is this because the rings are not seated?
I have adjusted the valves to spec and am currently doing the breakin procedure at idle. I cannot drive the car since I bought a messed up tranny. I have been keeping the revs varying up to 3000 RPM for 15 minutes/oilchange and another 30 minutes/oilchange.
What is this that I am worried about? Thanks.

DOn't worry about it. My friends build d16 sounds weird now that its built with a cam. You're going to hear all kinds of weird noises that aren't their now that you've done serious work to your car.
Why don't you get a tranny asap so that you can put a load on the engine to seat the rings? Sitting and varying the rpm's is no way to help the rings bite.
