Today my speedo and tach were spinning all crazy and car was acting funny, raido on/off etc. So I pull into checker auto to get my alt/batterychecked and was told the alt was fine but the battery was dead ?
Had some dude in the parking lot give me a quick jump start cuz now it wont start, just fast clicking sound.. Got it jumped and hauled *** home to figure it out more.
Few hrs later I go out and start it up, and it starts w/no problem, tach fine raido on speedo holding still etc. shut car off/on again and take it around the block and was fine...
The belt to alt was nice and tight, multi-meter said 12volts on battery while off 13.4 while on, i dont get it..? Why would this happen, I checked every single fuse and all connections from battery, alt etc.. What a trip, anyone ever had this happen

 

PS) the battery is less than 6monts new too

 

sounds like a bad connection at the battery. Or a ground cable loose.

 

When car is running I can pull off the neg from battery and motor still runs, same if I pull off the pos side too. So alt is good..
Na all wires are solid, no bad junky ones, dirty ones, nothing, no loose ones anything...Ive run outta ideas why thi battery wont take a charge ? I guess its possable I got a fluke battery huh ?

Your car runs with no battery? I think you may have to patent that.

Sounds like a wiring issue to me.

 

Na dude I pulled the neg while the pos was still on battery, then visa versa to check alt.......

 

Is the battery still under warranty?
I don't think a dead battery would cause your speedo/tach and radio to go funny. Sounds like some major wiring issues.

Yours will too.

 

Yeah still under warrenty, but when they check it they say its good, but when I take off and leave about 5miles later the tach and speedo go crazy and car running bad, no lights nothing and dies.. No start unless its jumpped, then zoom its all good for a little while again..
Im gonna swap alt again due to the internal reg and diode inside may be faulty, then be good, then faulty you know.. Hell I dont have a clue.
