Default short thrown question

im my crx... i have a 99 ls block w/ a 91 ls tranny... or so I believe... and for months I've been wondering why my throw is choppy... like i have to get momentum by downshifting to second gear before throwing it into first... while my friends have it easier... and it isnt forced to throw into first... basically my shifting is rougher... and thiers is smoother...

basically my questions are...

because of my setup... what type of short throw shifter should I be using? b16 b18 or the d16 still?

and is b&m a good brand? or is there one just as good or better and also cheaper?

The way I see it, if the design is proper, shortening the length of the actual shifter part (from the ball point to the top) will make it harder for you to shift. Having a longer bar, actually makes it easier because of a longer fulcrum arm to shift.

only short shifter in my opinion to get is modified factory type r, b&m and c's otherwise it will break. check your shiftlinkage for binding place racing is garbage and it was binding on mine for awile messing up my transmission. check if your shifter hits your exhaust and how the connects look on your shift linkage and check your clutch adjustments

Ha, sorry. B&M is a good brand from what I have heard. But you were complaining about shifting. So, suggesting a short throw shifter isn't going to help out your problem. You need to fix your shifter lever torque rod and shifter rod itself inorder to fix your "choppy" shifting. It's a combination of probably your shifter rods, and the shifter itself. This is why I was telling you about the "technical input." I hope this helps.

But to answer your question, I would try using a ls/gs/rs/gsr shifter with the according shifter rods.

Ruuning a dc sports and mine never broke, neither have any of my customers that have the same shifter.

I would say either dc sports or skunk2, but my friend had a skunk2 and when he felt mine, he wanted a dc sports one so go figure.

Also before anyone comments about short shifters ruining transmissions, people ruin transmissions, not shifters.

Snapped my dc sports shifter after a month of use. i was very disapointed to see it snap on me because i used to be a fan of dc sports. i am currently using a modified 2001 type r shifter hasnt broken yet and just as short throw if not shorter as the dc sports

If you order a B&M short shifter from jegs or summit, they are all the same for most Hondas, I think they go up to 2000 then its a different part number after. I'm runnin the B&M and seems good to me.

If you manage to break a B&M my hat if off to you. I have a B&M and the thing is made out of Stainless steel, not aluminum like most others. I have seen others break numerous times, but NEVER EVER a B&M.

the B&M is not the lightest unit out there but it is one of the strongests if not the stongests. they have a 1 million mile waranty on their stuff so don't hesitate to buy one up

B&M =

Ebay short shifter, 20 bucks shipped. Shifters really shouldnt break unless u shift like your trying to punch a midget through a brick wall.
