SRT-4 TUNES IT SELF
wooooow I just talked to my friend who has an srt-4 and some mods.. new waste gate bigger exhaust that sounds like a tug boat, boost controller set to 18psi, He has various problems and i told him to get it tuned, and he says he doesnt have to cause IT TUNES IT SELF...
please elaborate
I tell him, i dont know it all but.... He also thoguht my tial waste gate was catchcan.......................................... .....................................
It tunes itself on stock parts. All factory ECU's keep a close eye on stoich fuel settings and knock. That doesn't mean it can control radical turbos and fuel settings. Also 4-wire O2's (none wide-band) only work near a 14.7 A/F ratio and there readings quickly go to ish outside of that limit. Let him mod the motor and then blow another Chrysler POS to pieces.

wow isnt he that same kid that said its only good to hit full boost at wide open throttle. and it boggles, so he is running lean, how come he hasnt figured the ecu didnt tune that? he needs a tune. when he blows the motor(<-tomarrow) gie us the details of his new theory

all factory ecu's will readjust the ignition and fuel maps to minor mods... its nothing dramatic and is not a suitable replacement for a good tune. but the ecu will "learn" a bit to compensate
Yea, basically it has fuel trims, and they can change, but it is always trying to optimize them. This is basically an OBD2 thing, and possibly DSM. But I haven't heard much about it with hondas.
You have a long term fuel trim, and some others... maybe this is what you are refering to.
