Default DSM's flooding engine on startup...

Is it common for larger injectors to flood the engine during startup? My D16Y8 starts on the first rotation or sometimes gets too much fuel and dies and I have to restart it. Is this a common problem for those who use larger injectors? Is there a solution?

EDIT: Using a chipped P28 and Hondata S200b for management, resistor box wired into the injectors properly. Runs perfect the rest of the time.

if you are using an AFC, pull more fuel out.

if you arent using an AFC, you shouldnt have 450s.

Look info a chipped ecu for your injectors/motor/setup etc.

are you even using something to lean them out when you aren't in boost ? One of my friend's did this the other day and he called me up wondering why his engine would barely run

****... I should have been more specific.

I'm using a chipped P28 with Hondata S200b. I just had it tuned... made no difference. The tuner thinks it's because the ECU automatically makes the injectors dump alot of fuel on startup and the larger injectors make it worse...

sounds like a cold start enrichment problem.

especially with larger injectors on cold starts it will run much richer than normal. your tuner should be able to tune that out............hopefully.....

haha good i was like wtf are you thinking at first. Whats strange is that uberdata actually makes me run way lean on cold starts so my car stumbles all over the place until its warm

same here. Not like we should be giving it hard throttle till then anyway

Oh yeah, by the way, I too had a hondata s200B.

*working* IAT correction is missing from hondata & uberdata.

cold start and when the intake manifold is heat soaked (car driven until warm, turned off... then try to restart in 30-45mins) freak the AFRs out. Car runs rich at cold start and way lean when heat soaked... like 17:1 AFR until the engine gets up to temp.

The fueling changes caused by the IAT sensor aren't scaled for the injector size, I think.

this is my best guess... my car does this too.

Yeah, it seems to start almost normal actually when it's heat soaked... but when it gets cold it's just plain rich. I can smell the unburned fuel sometimes on startup when it stumbles for the first few seconds.
