Default Turbo question for my roommate??

OK he wants to buy a Type R and turbo it...the motor has about 31k on it and the guy had nitrous on it...he lives in GA and we don't know how bad he abused it...he wants to know if he can just slap a lower compression head gasket on and run 8psi safely with hondata and lots of tuning from none other than vapor trail
he also wants to know if a 60mm apexi n1 would be choking the motor or if he should upgrade...thoughts please
I TOLD HIM TO GO ALL MOTOR
but then again 5k for 280whp turbo or 4k for 200whp na...you pick lol

didn't read the post clearly thought it was a swap

my personal opinon is thats a waste of money get a b20 or a b18 or even a b18c1 .your going to spend a extra 2000.00 on a type r when you can do the same to a gsr plus put a extra 2000 grand in to it good luck

8psi on a ITR with a lower compression headgasket most likely will not make 280 whp. But 8psi with a thicker headgasket is very safe as long as it is tuned well. I run around 8-9psi with a crappy FMU set-up and it is reliable and a Hondata would just make it even more reliable. Oh, don't forget to get the motor checked out, compression test, etc.

Also, I would go with a 3" exhaust like a thermal. The Apexi will be a restriction if you ever go beyond 7-8psi.

Why do you say this?

Just because you have a revhard does not mean they are the best personally I dont like revhard kits but I dont go around saying they suck and if i did i would explain why they do............explain why f-max kits suck
