one of those surging idle problem!
after cleaning the throttle body off my b16a and putting everything back together with a new gasket, i started up my car, and my idle surges up and down!! the surge was between 1200-2000rpm continuously. it would only do it when i park the car, but while rolling, it would stay up at around 2k rpm steady. no check engine light and i've checked vacuum hoses for leaks.
any ideas? damn didn't know cleaning throttle body and IM would be this hard.

Another question comes in mind, I used Carb Cleaner (Throttle Body Cleaner) on the TB and IM....
would Carb Cleaner (Throttle Body Cleaner) cause it to surge like this?

bump!
i've tried bleeding the coolant a little under the radiator, taking out the TB and putting back on, and reset ecu...but still surging idle!
i took out the TPS (sensor) and it stopped the surging idle, but RPM stays up at 2k, with TPS CEL.
any ideas?

i did not take the intake manifold off at all. i simply sprayed a little of carb cleaner in it or on a towel and wiped the inside of it.

hmm how can i go adjusting the TPS because there are 2 special screws holding it on the throttle body?

i tested the voltage on the TPS today without adjusting it. It was .49v on wide open throttle. therefore, i don't think it's the TPS.
i'm running out of ideas...might as well take it to a shop....

on top of the TB there is a flat head screw(if you're looking straight at the throttle plate its in like the 12:00 position). its sorta covered with some plastic **** so you have to scrape out the slot of the screw. do this and turn it clockwise. this usually fixes it. its some kind of idle air bypass screw, i forget the actual name. hope this helps
thanks all for the info. i've tried everything i can:
-check vacuum hoses (sprayed carb cleaner on them)
-carb clean IACV
-bleed out all coolant and refill
-check FITV (i've adjusted this few months ago)
but nothing work. i thought...hmmm....let me block the TB with my palm. did that and the motor didn't hesitate. aha a leak somewhere! If there's no vacuum hose leak, there must be a leak somewhere on the TB. TADA!!! it was leaking at the TB gasket...on the bottom! i only checked the top before, dumb me!!
it appears that the gasket i used (USDM 99-00 Civic SI B16a2) did not cover the whole TB/IM plate. It was a tad too short on the bottom, where it left a hole leak out some air. I need the JDM gasket or I heard 92-93 GSR, etc would work. Oreilly's Autoparts did not have any in stock, so I custom cut my own gasket by buying a roll for $5, and it worked perfectly!
In conclusion, always check for vacuum leaks when you have rough idle with NO CELs. And USDM vs JDM gaskets...they are quite different!!!
I hope this lesson will help out other people with idle problems in the future.
