Default Turbo-ing an OBD2 car

Hi I have a D16Y7 and was wondering what I would need to run boost safely?

I will be buying a kit with "everything" included that will bolt right onto my car EXCEPT the fuel management.

I was told the safest way to run boost is to convert from OBD2 to OBD1. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Reading on the site, it tells me that I'll need to convert from OBD2 to OBD1 and I'll also need an OBD1 ECU.

What OBD1 ECU could I use for this type of set up?

P74,P75,P06,PR4,P72,P28,P30,P61,P08J,P30J,P72J

PM b18bEKcoupe, tell him I told you about him chipping ECU's. I haven't bought anythign from him but he PM'd me about an LS ECU P75 he could chip so I could run it on my d16y7. Any ECU without VTEC or a knock sensor like the P06 would work, in fact any ECU as long as it's chipped right would work.

easiest= FMU but it isn't recommended

Boost and safe are two words that are tough to put together. The most important thing is to have a good tune. Also, adjust your valves.

What "kit" are you buying?

The safest way to run boost is with a properly tuned car. The OBD conversion and uberdata is the easiest and cheapest way to get this done. Go for the P06 ecu. It is the same ecu found on OBD-I sohc non-vtecs.

Two big questions:

What state do you live in?
Do they run OBD-II checks during inspection?

Depending on your state, it might be tough to pass inspection with a OBD-I ecu...

Yes the "safest" way to run boost is what I meant. Kit I'm buying is supposed to have everything included except the fuel management. Custom manifold with a Garret turbo.

I live in California and no, i'm not sure if they do OBDII tests.
