Default FUEL MIXING (i live in cali, octane sucks ***)

Ok heres the question, I know that some of the guys out there in cali mix gas, its an old trick, but with F$%kin gas prices up there next to gold, I was wondering what type of blending method you guys use, example: I used 91 half tank with a blend of 100 half, to total 10 gallons, but i think im exceeding my octane target which would be 93-94 octane. Any responses would help.
The set up is 12.5.1 cp in a street car.

I just got my new Sport Compact Car in the mail and there is a big article in there about mixing your own gas to make a higher octane. It is very good, so I would suggest going and getting that mag and reading it, Im sure it will help you out.

if you use a 1:1 ratio by volume wouldn't that give you 95.5 octane. Add up the numbers divide by two. So that should mean u should use a little more 91 octane and less 100 octane to get 93-94 octane. So about 7 gallons of 91 octane and 3 gallons of 100 octane will get about 93.7 octane. I dont really know if it works like that but, it seems to work if your diluting something in chem

One gallon of Xxylene to 8 gallons of 91 will put you at your target. Xxylene has an octane rating of 117.

Keep in mind that if you have a cat, you will want to watch what you mix in with your gas.

Toluene.

In a 10 gallon tank add roughly 2 gallons of toluene to achieve an octane rating of 94.1.

Have fun

what about tuning for e85? wouldn't it be cheaper and better than mixing?

Torco Accelerator....16oz of it in 10 gallons of 91oct will give you 95oct...you can get 32oz cans of it for about 22bucks.

Why not build a motor that works on what pump gas you have available so you dont have to worry about the huge pain in the *** you will create.

Seriously is it worth it? A track only car I can see the purpose..... Almost. Then again still seems like a pain.

e85 is barely worth it unless its more then 50 cents less then normal gas...which it rarely is.

You then obviously miss the point of it then.
It's not that it gets good mpg, it is 105ish octane. Compare that against 91 and any additive to boost your octane and it's much cheaper even though it has increased consumption. And it's 105 octane available at a pump and not 98 octane you need to mix.

torco ftw ! but most of times higher octane fuels are cleaner and have some additives for keeping your engine clean.

sorry for not knowing the obvious. how it's obvious when i don't have a car running on e85 is beyond me.

but the more you know.
