Doing tranny work myself and a few questions
Ok so i have no money but i do have time and patience so im doing all the work on my tranny.
I have a 96 ex tranny with 137k miles and broken differential, s20 ex tranny with unspecified miles, and gear speed syncros.
I plan to put the 96 gears, shift fork, etc and the new syncros in the s20 case. Any better suggestions?
Im worried about the s20 cause i unscrewed the rear (forgot what its called) that has the ring you got to separate to get the housing apart and there was a good bit of fine metal shavings in it. Is this a major problem? How do i fix?

I hope to all thats good you have a helms. If not your going to be so screwed. Its like one of those block puzzles that you have to make each side the same color, but harder.
Why are you going to put 96 gears into a z6 tranny? I can see the shift forks but why the gears? Get a helms and get ready to pull your hair out.
get a HELM manual and take your time.it's not as hard as everybody says...unless you don't have a manual.
why do you want to use the S20 case?was your case damaged when the diff broke?

I dont really have a specific reason it really doesnt matter to me as long as i pair a good diff and gears up. The case is fine i just thought it would be easier to just do the gears and not worry about pulling the differential
