Stuck in Reverse
I tried to back out of my garage today, and i couldn't pop the car into R, i tried double clutching but it still wouldn't.
I tried it with car on and off, still having trouble. I managed to pop it in after a while, but once its in, i need to use force to pop it back out again.
My tranny is a JDM 98 R tranny and all the gears are working fine except for R.
I'm thinking its the clutch because my clutch is gonna go real soon, it squeeks all the time

a lot of cars have this over time. 1st, then reverse or 2nd, then reverse does the trick. it possibly also be a going 5/r syncro as someone advised above.

Or a shift fork. A friends 99 GS-R had the same problem and it was a bent shift fork.

my R would do it after I had been getting on it. Only happened with reverse too...is it still happening or has it gone away (for now). If its still happening id say its the shift fork...if not, the slave cyl.
I had that exact problem a few years ago. Wound up needing a tranny rebuild
Bent shift forks, fried synchros, bearings done...I was not a happy camper (had just bought the car).
