Difference between VTEC and VTEC II

Difference between VTEC and VTEC II
yeah i know...another newbie question, but if someone could just help me out i would appreciate it. i have a friend who just got a 96 EX coupe, and i was lookin at the engine specs on http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/engine.html and is says the D16Z7 has VTEC-II unlike the GSR which just says VTEC. What is the difference? Does it just have something to do with the fact that its SOHC? PLease help.....

that means absolutely nothing. thats not even the code for the 96+ civic ex engine.the 96+ EX has a d16y8 and the II might just be there way of pointing out that it is OBD-II

thats what i get for believing everything i read on the internet so there is absolutly no difference?
