d16z6 tranny on a d15b7?
hey, i have an EF myself but my brother is looking to replace the tranny in his 92 4-door LX. He found a good deal on the tranny out of a 94 EX and i was wondering if it's a good match with the stock d15b7 in his car. He's having the work done at a shop, but is it a bad idea? i don't know anything about EGs so any help would be awesome.
thanks for the fast response. so now he's feeling audacious. how hard is swapping even a bolt on transmission for someone who's good with their hands but has limited automotive experience?
Probobly the best thing you could ever do to the D15b7 engine! same set up i have now but with a fidanza lightweight flywheel.. i love the tranny goes tru gears much faster therefore faster accl. plus the bearings in the S20 (d16z6) tranny are bigger and can take more of a beating. just my .02

Really? They look the same to me. I am looking at them right know. I am pretty sure they are bolth aluminum. I know the y8 shift forks are made of steel. Maybe that's what your thinking about.
