d16z6 tranny issues, and d15b7 compatability q's
Hey guys,
frequent reader first post though, I serached and read all the relating tranny threads before i posted.
recently i picked up a 93 coupe si( yea i am in canada)its a d16z6. the car is in mint shape and has been fairly well taken care of, BUT
The car needs a clutch. its on its way out and has, if babied and taken care of a month or two i hope. Shifting is rough. when going up 2nd and 5th are worst, reverse sometimes doesn't like to go in or grinds slightly when it does. down shifting is sketchy to, mainly 2nd but hard to get into all gears really.
So first off what possibly could be the problem.
as well i have a d15b7 motor and tranny around from my brothers swap. Hes pretty sure the clutch and tranny are in good shape and work fine. Could that tranny bolt right up to the d16z6? Or any issues i could run into.
I would most likely take it to a shop to have this done, and money is a little tight these days so some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx a bunch.

It'll bolt right in. Check the thread by BauleyCivic about how to remove the tranny and check the ISB. Should only take you a day to get the old one out and the new one in.

Yes, I just have one question. I too have a d15b7 tranny and a d16z6 motor. I want to swap it in with the tranny so my car will run a lil faster. Being a DX model and all we know its not fast... But puting a d16z6 motor on top of that tranny... would it b worth it?

all u need is to replace your clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing.....putting a DX tranny on will only make you slower

Would replacing the clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing solve the rough shifting? As the thread was somewhat hi-jacked i am not interested in making the car fast at this point. i would rather it drive well and work properly
